Facilitation

To “facilitate” means simply (!)  to “make easy”. The more diverse the group and the more complex the goals, the more important – and challenging – it is to facilitate a plan, agreement or statement. It’s also very satisfying work for the group and the facilitator.

As a facilitator I see my role as creating a structure within which a group can feel comfortable enough to risk sharing honestly and putting forward creative – and even unpopular – suggestions. With many years of experience, I bring many tools and a flexible style to this work to help a group move forward by sharing views and understandings in a respectful and focused way.

During a session I can be counted on to use the group time wisely. I take responsibility for starting and ending on time or checking in about proposed shifts it that seems needed. I welcome all voices.

Key to a successful outcome is the work before and after – I’m available to take a lead in that work if desired.

Is your group looking for a facilitated meeting to help you move forward? I’d be happy to meet with you at no obligation and talk about your needs and see if we might have a good fit.

“We could say we want the Web to reflect a vision of the world where everything is done democratically. To do that, we get computers to talk with each other in such a way as to promote that ideal.”
